DO NOT TAKE YOUR PETS HERE!!! this place is awful. The vets know absolutely nothing, they don't do what you ask, they do whatever will make them the most money. After speaking to my normal vet, who actually knows what they're doing, I have found out that these idiots prescribed my dog's the WRONG FLIPPING MEDICATION!!!!! The one they gave must have been the most expensive one which is why they prescribed it. They do not care about the animals, all they care about is their pocket book. Even in an emergency, I would never take my dog's here again. The staff are rude and have ZERO empathy and the vets must have gotten their licenses out of cereal boxes.GO ANYWHERE BUT HERE!!!!!!!!!!!!!
I have had such great experiences at Calgary North and trust them with my furry family members. Dr. Foster has been our main vet for our family pet and now my cat and she always shows professionalism, compassion and genuine understanding and empathy for the animal and their guardian. It's great to know there's a place where vets are willing to sit and explain things to you and go through all the options out there, while referring and asking for suggestions from their colleagues.
We've been taking our cats here for years...they are good people...helpful when they can be, and sympathetic when they can't. They have a good supply of high-quality pet foods and supplies. Decent parking space and easy access in their own building. You can make appointments via their website, and they are staffed 24 hours a day.
They took great care of our cat Bella when I had to take her in at midnight on a Monday. Staff was super friendly, and while Bella typically is a very sweet and docile cat, she seemed quite relaxed even after being in their care and having a ruptured anal abscess cleaned out and treated. Almost a week later and everything seems to be healing as it should. Hope I never have to return for obvious reasons, but if in need of a late night vet I will go back. Price seemed reasonable, but I have nothing to compare it to.
I am very disappointed in the moral integrity of this clinic. We were charged $287.20 for the euthanasia of our guinea pig ("Teddy"). We brought her in as her status rapidly declined yesterday and she began to show signs of respiratory distress. We were directed to the treatment area where a vet specifically told us that she was not an exotic pet specialist and that at 6.5 years, there likely wasn't much that could be done. Regardless, she asked if we wanted her to consult a colleague. We declined and explained that we had come because "Teddy" appeared to be suffering. She had lived a very good life and we couldn't bear to watch her suffer anymore. The vet agreed, explained the procedure and took our piggy to the back. No physical assessment or diagnostic tests were done and the entire conversation lasted less than 5 minutes. We were billed $157.65 for "Exam/Consultation" and an additional $129.55 for "euthanasia". We willingly brought our beloved pet in so that she wouldn't have to suffer and potentially experience a long & painful death. Taking advantage of clients when they are in a vulnerable state by capitalizing on their loss is a sad shame. I will not be returning to this clinic with any future pets and will strongly discourage others from doing the same.
