Canadian Retailers are really missing the boat. Lowe's just like just about every other big box store just don't get it. Instead of spending their time strategizing on where to put the product so the customer has to walk over hell's half acre to find it, management needs to focus on service and customer satisfaction. Once they have met their sales quota, everything else will follow. But trying to find the ever elusive "sales person" here is next to impossible. Employees will do anything possible it seems, not to cross your path, including looking the other way when you approach. They prefer to gather in groups by the cashier to socialize. Sell product first, then when customers start coming back you can find time to do your other work in between. Way to hustle! Greet the customer, help them. Don't treat them like they are keeping you from getting your work done or interrupting your daily gab. There is nothing more annoying than feeling like there is absolutely no one that gives a care about anything, and certainly not about you! Very poor top management here with no supervision. Today I could only find one type of tape measure and no one to help me. There wasn't even anyone in the paint dept., (as usual). Returning to the customer service desk, I could see all manners of employees hanging around doing nothing. All she could say is "The tape measures are over there somewhere in one of those aisles". Maybe one day I will find a big box store with an iota of customer service.2017-11-17 - Still scratching my head, finding 8 staff hovering near the customer service desk doing very near nothing, while customers wander the aisles.2018-05-31 - Still no change. 1 girl in the paint department they say, but no, she is somewhere in hardware at the moment. She'll be by soon. When she returned, she kept me and other customers who made a special trip and are ready and wanting to buy, waiting. She was too busy huddled over the paint chips discussing colour tones with someone on the phone. I finally left without making a purchase. I would really like to like them, but Lowe's is a difficult company to love. I find it is usually quicker to go elsewhere where the prices, and service are usually better.
Plenty of parking, well organized and clean store. If you know what to expect from a Lowe's, this will meet your expectations. Layout is always pretty uniform across locations, and the staff are pretty good about that delicate balance of letting you look around, but checking in to make sure you can find what you need.
Best hardware store for black iron gas pipe. They cut and tread pipe instore. This is a super convenient and valuable service that Lowe's offers exclusively. The other guys will sell you the pipe, but if you need it cut and threaded to a specific length too bad, you'll have to buy a $5000 machine on your own. Lowe's has said machine and they will do it for you and no charge. Unbeatable value, I come for this service frequently and purchase all other materials at the same time, one stop shopping. Prices on the prethreaded pipe is actually less than what the local wholesalers charge me. Saves me time, money, and provides an awesome service that their competitors don't/can't even offer. Outstanding value, service and convenience. Don't change a thing. You are clearly up front and leading the pack with this unsurpassed service that will keep both myself and other skilled professionals such as myself returning. Keep it up Lowe's this value added service makes you stand apart from the others for all the right reasons. For gas fittings and pipe Lowe's is the best choice for both the homeowner and the professional.
We recently bought a patio set from the Sunridge location. They're always helpful and attentive when we shop there but this purchase was unique. Our sales person, Kate, was fantastic to work with. She's one of the best sales people I've ever met! That is not a flighty thing for me to say since I'm a sales trainer and have worked with some of the best salespeople in the country. After Kate helped us with the purchase, she had someone bring the boxes down to customer service where they did a fantastic job helping us with the purchase and rental of the van. No fuss, no mistakes, everyone was helpful and pleasant. I applaud the management team for creating such a great team of people!
It took about 40 minutes to get a small piece of plywood cut in order to fit in my car. First had to wait at customer service which directed me to lumber desk (ok my mistake, I should have known customer service probably couldn't cut it for me). No one working at lumber desk so had to go to the masonry desk. Only one worker on the masonry desk, helping someone find an order number or something. Had to wait a long time for that. The lady working the counter was very polite however.She waved down a guy to cut the wood for me, which took quite a long time. The guy was probably about 6 feet away from me holding my cut wood to give and a customer asked him a question. He then proceeds to leave and help them for about 5 minutes...I was right there it wouldn't have been too hard to politely tell someone asking for help to literally hang on for TEN seconds while you're already helping someone else. The guy was polite, though. That wasn't the problem at allEvery worker was friendly and polite but man, that amount of time is so unnecessary to get a simple piece of 4 x 4 plywood cut. Definitely more people need to be on counters and to help people..
