The store is well laid out and they have some great items at good prices. The staff has always been helpful and friendly. We haven't really run into long lines at checkout. I'm quite satisfied with my experience in this store.
I was an employee here and recently resigned. The High Turnover rate should have warned me. They preach Diversity but fail to implement this core value. This has been by far the worst company I have ever worked for and the staff do not listen to you or take you seriously.
Until recently, Homesense used to be my absolute favourite go to for original items from around the world at attractive, affordable price points. I used to be able to hop around from location to location to find different things, the variety was near endless. However, in the past little while, the store has now become somewhat generic in that if I run up to the Beacon Hill location, I find much of the same things as Market Mall. It saddens me to find that Homesense has become, for lack of a better description or comparison, a Wayfair style store. It's just not the same anymore... It used to have a sense of uniqueness and quirkiness. Just another box store. BTW, resist the temptation to purchase the chocolates as you approach the cashiers, they are often outdated. Although cloudy looking chocolate is okay to consume, it tastes crappy.I'm holding out that Homesense will recapture their special place in the home decor sector and return to their business building blocks that worked for them in the past.
The new location is very modern and well lit inside. However I asked a few of the staff members for a specific product, and they had no idea where to find it.
I am a big homesense fan but after visiting this location think that it is likely the worst calgary location, and I have been to them all. On entering you have to take the huge escalator up to access the store or you can opt for the elevator... but either way it is a pain if you are carrying several items out of the store. Staff is sparse and not near as friendly and helpful as other locations. The store is laid out really weird and seems in real disarray. It didn't seem clean and just was not inviting like other homesense stores I have visited. Honestly it felt quite dingy. I definitely won't be back to this location unless someone convinces me they have done some mass improvements.
