I haven't been to the museum since I was young and it was lovely to go and I was surprised by the amount to see. I absolutely loved a creation of a horse made out of 2 miles of barbed wire. I will go back just to see that again. Four floors of art to view.
There is so much to see at Glenbow museum. You would have to spend a few hours or more to see everything. I loved learning about Alberta's history and how the many mavericks shaped this province. The displays were awesome and there were many, many artifacts from the past. I, unfortunately, did not have the time to visit every floor, but will do next time I visit Calgary. There is also a gift shop on the main floor. This is a very worthwhile place to visit on a leisurely day.
Very interesting museum in the heart of Calgary. High quality presentation. We spend half a day but could have easily spend much more. We were very much impressed by the section explaining the history of the First nations. It very well explained the life, history and philosophy of the First Nations People in Canada. Also the section explaining the history of Alberta was interesting. For experts, an impressive collections of minerals and rocks. First we did not want to go there but in the end it was just too fascinating.. We also liked the exhibition of Alex Janvier. We definitely need to come back.
This is an interesting way to approach a museum - it's art, natural history and history all rolled into one. It may be too much to take in in a single visit, but admission is valid the whole day. We visited, left for lunch, and came back to finish.
Fantastic museum! My kids were engaged for hours and that literally never happens. They loved it and so did I, totally could have stayed longer.
