Got an oil change and mechanical check. Didn't hassle me to make more repairs, just gave me a list of things that needed doing. Am happy with the service, would return to get repairs/maintenance in the future.
I love this place. I got a Groupon for an oil change and winter maintenance, and everyone was super friendly and helpful. Didn't try to sell me on a deal or anything. Very honest and small company
I had tire change in April at Kensington Auto for about $150. Changing back to winter tires in early October, the wheel lug nut stud was broken. According to the tire shop installing winter tires, the shop that did the LAST tire change is responsible for the wheel lug stud damage. So, I went back to Kensington Auto to ask if I can get a free fix under warranty. However, Kensington Auto refused to fix it for free, saying they can't fix it under warranty because nobody knows how it happened. Asking how much it will cost to fix it, the quote was $168 ($8 for parts & $160 for labour). $168 is more than double the quotes from the other shops, and even more than the tire change. Knowing that Kensington Auto is neither interested in fixing it under warranty nor willing to offer a reasonable quote, what can I do? All I can do is fixing it out of my pocket at another trustworthy repair shop & giving 1-star rating to Kensington Auto.
I'm giving a 1 star review because of the lack of customer service I received while making a phone call. It's Saturday night and I realize they are closed, but I figured I would call and just leave a message for someone to call me back when they're open. I was surprised someone had picked up and said they are open tomorrow morning to finish some work and then the rest of the stuff gets done Monday. I TRIED to explain I just needed to leave a message but before I even got half way through, the guy interrupted and told me they're done for the night and just hung up on me! Well, I'm not ever calling back and I'm NEVER recommending this place.Don't pick up the phone if you're just going to hang up on the customer!
I have only had good experiences with Kensington Auto. I have two 15 year old plus cars, every time we need work done, after inspection, the mechanic is very upfront and tells us what he would do in our situation. They have never once pushed more work than necessary and always give a recommendation based on what they would do personally if they were in the situation. I never worry about overpaying, they will fix exactly what is required by the most cost effective means. If other things are wrong they will give suggestions and timelines.
