After a manic episode, a psychiatrist at the Sheldon Chumir re assessed and re diagnosed me with bipolar disorder. He put me on a medication that was not a therapeutic dose and left me on a medication detrimental to my condition. I was sent out the door with no follow up plan and thus returned the following year, again in a manic state. In the height of this manic episode, urgent care mental health tried to send me out the door with a 30 day prescription for a sleeping pill. They told me to contact a service for another assessment which has a 6-12 month waiting list. After a manic episode, people with bipolar disorder become depressed and often suicidal. Luckily, Ive never been suicidal. Not a fan.
My friend went in with a head injury late last night. He was triaged and admitted right away but then the posted wait time to see a doctor was 1 hour 57 minutes. The wait time didnt change from 1:57 for the 2 hours we sat in the waiting room. We asked the nurses if there was any way we could see a doctor because my friend was experiencing serious concussion symptoms but they just told us Every patient is important not just you
Not helpful at all. I was recommended to call this clinic for travel INFORMATION, not a diagnosis or vaccines just to find out about a disease in the area I am travelling to and they refused to speak to me at all. All I wanted to know was if it was safe to travel there under certain circumstances and they told me I had to make an appointment that could take 3-6 weeks. I leave in one week today and the circumstance popped up today unexpectedly. The rudest person to speak with on the phone. I would just recommend your family doctor rather than this clinic.
I am forever thankful for this facility. I went there back in February for troubles breathing, got in right away, they did blood work and actually found that I may have been diabetic at that time. I initially went in around 5am, but the doctor that saw me called me back on my personal phone around 11pm that night asking me to return to recheck my sugars. I got diagnosed diabetic shortly after and without his follow up I could have been very sick for much longer. I wish I could remember his name but I am so grateful for the work of the staff and doctors at Sheldon Chumir. Thank you!!
Got through pretty quickly. Most staff were friendly and helpful. Except for the main nurse who handled me. She was very rude and unempathetic to say the least. After getting to a private room she forced my mother to leave for no reason. After I explained my situation, being in severe pain and hoping to get an ultrasound to see if it was anything serious. She said I really dont understand why youre here and proceeded to tell me in a patronizing tone that the ultrasound clinics at any hospital shut down by 9PM (we were there after 9PM), which obviously an average person wouldnt know. Proceeded to give me the cold and pathetic abuse screening ive seen and disappear for half an hour and tell me incorrect information regarding the follow up for test results. I understand if someone is having a hard night but seriously if youre working in a hospital with sick or hurt people you need to have a better attitude then that.
